Moments to remember

When love is not madness, it is not love
  ~Pedro Calderon de la Barca

What a magical sensation to witness two people preparing to start their shared abode. The moments when gifts are received with “we love it!” and the boasting morphs into “welcome to our home”. The times when you visit them as a couple and see their co-existence unfolding before you , as if it were the most natural thing in the world. To think that each of them had chosen to wake up to the other every day of the week, for infinite years to come.

I attended my first ever house warming where countless friends passed through in awe of the young couple’s home, um-ing and aw-ing at the correct moments,  and toasting to their future with multiple colours of bubbly. Gifts were graciously received, smiles exchanged with hands entwined, and eyes tangled in a fury of what only have been the purest form of love.

The atmosphere was jovial with gusts of hope fanning through the crowds at regular intervals. Whispered wishes for a future filled with blessed memory-making moments and vows to attend as a double rather than a single were pronounced.

Hearing the joyous gales of laughter, seeing the tender kisses stolen amongst company, smelling the masculine musk married with flowery essence and feeling the warm inviting hands offering gratitude, was just a little too much for my sappy emotions to handle and it made me realise how swollen my heart was with liquid ecstasy that my dearest friend had found her missing piece. Beth and Simon, I wish you the most exceptional life together and can only pray you’ll be my friends for life.
